Rainier Arthur Pinto Cruz is an Assistant Professor and a full time faculty member of the University of the Philippines College of Music - Voice, Music Theater, and Dance Department. He is also an active faculty of the UP College of Music Extension Program. It is in the same university where he finished his Diploma in Creative and Performing Musical Arts (DCPMA) Major in Voice, his Bachelor of Music (BM), Major in Voice, and his Master of Music (MM), Major in Voice, minor in Musicology. Rainier possesses a brilliant bass-baritone voice which will remind you of foreign opera legends you hear on recordings. He has outstandingly portrayed various full length opera lead roles and has been invited outside the University for various singing engagements.

Rainier is a member of the Rotary Club of Metro San Francisco del Monte and has been invited by his mother club and other Rotary Clubs in the Philippines to perform on numerous occasions. In 2009, Rainier had the privilege to perform the title role in the Philippine premiere of Giuseppe Verdi's Attila for his Master of Music Major in Voice Graduation Recital. To name a few of Rainier's most exceptional performances are the following: his portrayal of Dulcamara in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore in which he was commended as a young great artist in an article of the Philippine Daily Inquirer; as bass soloist of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony; and as bass soloist in Handel's Messiah. Rainier also had notable performances of the works of known great composers like George Frideric Handel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Gabriel Faure, Felix Mendelssohn, Gaetano Donizetti, Gioacchino Rossini, and Giuseppe Verdi.

Rainier completed his elementary and high school at the University of the Philippines Integrated School. He was a member of the U.P.I.S. Glee Club and the U.P. Parish Choir. Before he concentrated on being a soloist, he was a member of the award winning and all music major choral group Coro Concertino.
