Dr. Ramon "Montet" Acoymo (PhD, MM, BM magna cum laude, BS cum laude) has performed Opera and Music Theater, literature from the Medieval (the title role in The Play o/Daniel as member-soloist of the UP Madrigal Singers for the Las Piñas International Bamboo Organ Festival); the Baroque (the title role in Handel's Xerxes) at the CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo with the UP Orchestra); the Classical (Tamino in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with the Manila Symphony Orchestra); the Romantic (MacDuff in Verdi's Macbeth with Repertory Philippines) the Modern (the title role in Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex at the UP College of Music); and the Contemporary (the title role in Blake's The Bear" for the Hong Kong Chamber Symphony Society).

A first-prize winner of the U.S. National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition, his recital debut with collaborating artist Dr. Raul Sunico at the Alice Tully Hall of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York was hailed a "triumph" by Headline Philippines. As Music Director/Conductor, he has helmed the Ateneo College Glee Club, Coro San Benildo of CSB-De La Salle and the Kundirana of La Salle Greenhills.

His achievements in the field of Music and Music Education have been recognized by awards from the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and the Alumni Associations of the University of the Philippines and De La Salle University: as well as from the ALIW Foundation, which granted him a "Hall of Fame" award for winning the "Most Outstanding Male Classical Performer" three consecutive times.

Dr. Acoymo has served as member and Chair of the Technical Panel for Music for the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) which crafted guideline-standards for the Bachelor's and Master's programs in Music and Music Education for the country; Secretary-General and Program Director for the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) a resident company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines; Dean of the College of Music of the University of the Philippines and Chair of its Department of Voice, Music Theater and Dance.

He has been a resource speaker for the Departments of Othorhinolaryngology of the UP Philippine General Hospital and the St. Luke's Medical center; published "Art Songs for a New Millenium" (an anthology of arts songs given Philippine and/or world premiere performances by Mr. Acoymo); and completed, with a team from the UP College of Engineering including (then) Dean Dr. Rowena Guevarra, a research project "Development of Feature Set, Classification, Implementation and Applications for Vowel Migration in Sung Filipino (Tagalog) Texts".
