    Full time dance professor Steve Villaruz designed the dance program and has been in charge of it since it' conception. He is Artistic Director Emeritus of the UP Dance Company and as artistic director has brought the UP Dance Company on national and international tours. He has benn granted the privilege of holding two professorial chairs ( UP and Metro Manila commission). Steve has a Bachelor of Arts in English and History, Graduate degree in Asian Studies and Comparative Literature and an Advanced Diploma in Movement (Dance) Notation from Benesh Institute in London. He is currently president for the Philippines and Vice President for Southeast Asia of the World Dance Alliance among other dance organizations, and foundations he is affiliated with. He has served as dance and theater critic for most of the national dailies, and internationally and nationally published journals. He has choreographed nearly 100 dance works performed both here and abroad and has served as national and international adjudicator for dance competitions. His book,Treading Through 45 Years of Philippine Dance published in 2006 by the UP Press and the Philippine Folklife Museum Foundarion earned the distinction of being chosen one of the collection of Centenniel Books of the University.
