CEMT Level III successfully completed
Last May 14, 2016, fifteen teachers from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao performed during the culminating activity of the Continuing Education for Music Teachers (CEMT) post-baccalaureate program of the UP College of Music Extension Program. Eight of the teachers successfully completed three levels of the program. The participants who came from Cagayan, Pangasinan, Marinduque, Rizal, Bicol, Bohol, Cagayan De Oro, Iligan, General Santos attended month-long classes on music theory, music literature, pedagogy, conducting, choral arranging, Asian music ensembles, music theatre, and applied music solo performance at the UP College of Music.
The culminating event started with a message from Dean Jose S. Buenconsejo followed by solo performances notably voice, piano, guitar, and drums. The second part of the program consisted of group performances including Philippine (Cordillera, kulintang, folk dance), Asian (Korean samulnori, Chinese ensemble) as well as choral, piano ensemble and music theatre numbers. The certificates of completion (for level III) and attendance (for levels I and II, III) were awarded by Prof. Jocelyn T. Guadalupe, CEMT coordinator who was assisted by College of Music and CEMT faculty, Prof. Lester Demetillo, Prof. Daisy Valenciano, Prof. Leslie Diaz, and Mr. Emman Jamisolamin.
