Highlights of Performances and/or Lecture-Workshop-Seminar Outreach Initiatives:

Among others, he has performed Opera and Music Theater literature from the Medieval (the title role in The Play of Daniel as member-soloist of the UP Madrigal Singers for the Las Piñas International Bamboo Organ Festival); the Baroque (the title role in Handel's Xerxes) at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo with the UP Orchestra; the Classical (Tamino in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with the Manila Symphony Orchestra); the Romantic (MacDuff in Verdi's Macbeth with Repertory Philippines); the Modern (the title role in Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex at the UP College of Music); and the Contemporary (the title role in Blake's The Bear for the Hong Kong Chamber Symphony Society); as well as on the Recital, Concert and Oratorio stages; the most recent being for the UP College of Education Centennial Celebrations in 2018 in a solo recital entitled Tagumpay.

  • As Music Director and Conductor, he has helmed the Ateneo College Glee Club, Coro San Benildo of CSB-De La Salle and the two-time ALIW Foundation winner for Most Outstanding Philippine Cultural Group – the Kundirana of La Salle Greenhills; as well as the PINTIG Ensemble (3rd Prize Winner: First Phil-Am Choral Competition at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York).

    He has been a resource speaker for the Departments of Otorhinolaryngology of the UP Philippine General Hospital and the St. Luke's Medical Center; produced a volume Art Songs for a New Millenium (an anthology of arts songs given Philippine and/or world premiere performances by Dr. Acoymo); and completed with a team from the UP College of Engineering including (then) Dean Dr. Rowena Guevarra a research project Development of Feature Set, Classification, Implementation and Applications for Vowel Migration in Sung Filipino (Tagalog) Texts. He has also produced a volume of a complete Mass in Latin and French Ang Misa ni San Juan Bautista de La Salle (by Jude Edgard Balsamo) at mga Awit ng Pagsamba by various composers (including himself).

    He has released four recordings: Words and Music; Immortal Philippine Songs; Christmas; and Montet and Friends.

    Professional memberships:

    He has served as Dean of the College and Chair of the Department of Voice, Music Theater and Dance; Technical Panel Chair and member of the Music Committee Music for the Commission on Higher Education (CHED); and Secretary-General and Program Coordinator of the Cultural Center of the Philippines National Music Competition for Young Artists (CCP-NAMCYA). He was Cluster “A” Academic Committee Chairman for UP Diliman (for the Colleges of Music, Fine Arts, Architecture, Human Kinetics and Mass Communication) and member of the UP system wide RGEP (Revitalized General Education Program) Council.

    Awards:

    He is a First-Prize Winner of the United States National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Competition; a UP Chancellor’s Awardee for Most Outstanding Classical Musician; an ALIW Foundation Hall of Fame Awardee as Most Outstanding Male Classical Singer; an awardee of the Alumni Association of the University of the Philippines (UPAA) and De La Salle University; as well as of the PHI KAPPA PHI Honor Society for outstanding service and contributions to Music and Music Education.
