Janet Sabas Aracama holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Music in Choral Conducting and minor in Voice and Ethnomusicology. She was Department Chairman from the year 2000 up to 2005 and now holds Professor faculty position in the Conducting and Choral Ensemble department.

She has worked under the mentorship of musical greats Josefina Bailen, Elmo Makil, and Reynaldo Paguio. Pursuing further music studies in the University of the Philippines College of Music, she became Artistic Director and Conductor of the U.P. Concert Chorus since November 1999 and has led the U.P. C.C. in winning international choral competitions and participation in various prestigious choral festivals. To add, she has also conducted the U. P. Symphonic Orchestra with the official choirs of the University of the Philippines performing works from Handel’s “Messiah” and the Ph i l i p p i n e P h i l h a r m o n i c Orchestra with the U.P. Concert Chorus in the Cultural Center of the Philippine’s outreach concert series at the “Salcedo Nights” in Salcedo Village, Makati and the Bel Air Community Concert Series along with Maestros Oscar Yatco and Eugene Castillo. “Jai” is also a mentor to many young, aspiring singers, honing their talent and instilling in them the discipline to become engaging performers who will imprint in the hearts and minds of their audience. She is a recipient of several citations and awards, here and abroad. She was feted with the University of the Philippines Artist Productivity System (APS) Award Artist Rank 2 (2009-2011), (2018-2020), MANUEL L. QUEZON GAWAD PARANGAL 2018, UP Concert Chorus Outstanding Institution for the Choral Arts, 2016 and 2013 ANI NG DANGAL Award by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), 2016 INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD by the 29th Awit Awards, HALL OF FAME AWARD, 30th ALIW Awards 2015, 2012 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD and “Best Major Concert (Group Category)” by the 33rd Annual Aliw Awards Foundation December 2020.

She is married to Joey Aracama, a production specialist, church worker and baritone. They have two children, Tiara Monina and Mishael Daniel. Acting various life roles as wife, mother, educator, singer, conductor, composer/arranger, music minister and many more, Jai offers all of these for God and country.
