Clement Acevedo is a distinguished pianist known for his versatility in various musical contexts, including solo performances, concerto appearances, chamber music, and academic work. Hailing from Roxas City, Capiz, he has graced prestigious venues such as Merkin Hall in New York City, Taichung National Theater in Taiwan, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He has also appeared as a soloist with renowned orchestras, including the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, the University of the Philippines Symphony Orchestra, Metro Manila Concert Orchestra, and the University of Santo Tomas Symphony Orchestra.

An avid chamber musician, Acevedo has collaborated with notable international artists such as Mary Boodell, principal flutist of the Richmond Symphony, and Charles Ullery, principal bassoonist of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. His other collaborations include performances with pianists Andrew Tyson and Moritz Eggert, as well as soprano Camille Lopez Molina and pianist Raul Sunico in the Philippines. A career highlight was his performance of Franz Schubert’s Winterreise alongside Grammy Award-winning baritone Kevin McMillan.

Acevedo won first prize in the 2004 National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) Piano Category C and was a semi-finalist in the 2009 Heida Hermanns International Piano Competition. He has also won in various concerto competitions at James Madison University, the Manila Chamber Foundation, and the UP College of Music, and received prestigious awards such as the Amati Award (NY) and the Steinway & Sons Award (Philadelphia).

Acevedo holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree in Performance, Pedagogy, and Literature from James Madison University, where he studied under Gabriel Dobner. He also earned MM in Piano Performance from Temple University under eminent Philadelphia pedagogue Harvey Wedeen and MM in Piano Pedagogy from West Chester University of Pennsylvania under concert pianist Igor Resnianski. His early studies were at the University of the Philippines under Augusto Espino.

Before returning to the Philippines, Acevedo served as president-elect of the Harrisonburg Music Teachers’ Association. He has since been actively involved in organizing music workshops and festivals. He directed the Jovita Fuentes and Jose Contreras Music Institute, focusing on Lieder and Kundiman, at the University of San Agustin in Iloilo. With a grant from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), he organized a workshop on Hiligaynon Art Songs, leading to the creation of 12 new compositions by Filipino composers. He also leads the Gifted Young Musicians Program at the UP College of Music, supported by the UP Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension.

Currently, Acevedo serves as the Artistic and Program Director of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) and is a member of the Board of the Piano Teachers’ Guild of the Philippines Foundation, Inc. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines College of Music, where he teaches piano and music history.
