Jocelyn Timbol-Guadalupe is an assistant professor of music education at the College of Music, the University of the Philippines, where she teaches music theory, special projects, and graduate research methods. She holds a bachelor of music in music education magna cum laude, a master of music in music education, and a Ph.D. in sociology and anthropology of education from the University of the Philippines. As a Musika Sophia early music ensemble member, she has performed in concerts at the Abelardo Hall, International Bamboo Organ Festival, Paco Park, UP Manila Museum of A History of Ideas, and PETA Theater. Research projects include the UP College of Music undergraduate theory entrance test standardization (2012, 2018), co-project leader for the DOST-FPRDI-UPCE- PNU-PSME Bamboo Music Instrument innovation (2019-2022), UPD OVCRD SOS College of Music OCS digitization project (2022-2023). Her published works include the UP Center for Ethnomusicology’s Dictionary of Filipino Musical Terms, Musika Jornal articles on Celso Espejo and Lucio San Pedro, Serenata in Saysay Himig anthology by UP Press, Ilocano mother tongue music education in the UNESCO-British Council’s IMMLE proceedings, UNDP-BLAFI’s Palay, Bigas, Kanin monograph, AusAid-Deped-UPD College of Education’s Teachers as Ethnographers handbook, and entries to the CCP Encyclopedia of Philippine Art. She has reviewed for Musika Jornal, the Malaysian Music Journal, and the International Society for Music Education Journal. She was awarded the Live Entertainment and Arts Festival Presidential Award in 2020 for the Dulag Karatong Festival, the UP Artist Productivity Award in 2018-2020, One UP Professorial Award in 2016-2018 (Teaching and Public Service), 2019-2021 (Teaching and Research/Creative Work), and 2020-2022 (Teaching and Public Service).
