Professor Katherine Frances Valdellon-Molina, more professionally known as Kitchy Molina is a full time tenured professor of the Voice department. She is the only Certified McClosky Voice Technician(CMVT) thus far based in the Philippines and has been trained and selected to be the only foreign Master Teacher among solely American Master Teachers of the McClosky Institute of Voice which is based in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Since 2010, she has been an affiliate staff of the St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City serving as voice therapist in the Voice, Swallowing and Sinus Service.

She served as Chair of the Department of Voice, Music Theater and Dance from 2004 to 2013. Under her chairmanship, she produced several outstanding opera productions for the Department : Gluck’s Orpheus and Euridice, Madama Butterfly, Poulenc’s Dialogue of the Carmelites, Mozart’s Magic Flute, Nicolai’s Merry Wives of Windsor. She also founded the first student organization of the department, the Voice and Music Theater Guild (VMTG).

She has been the conductor of the Philippine Sandalphon Singers since 1997, comprised mostly of alumni of the UP Concert Chorus, of which she was a member from 1977-1980 and where she served as President during the 1979 World Tour. The Philippine Sandalphon Singers has performed for the Independence Day Celebrations in Malaysia in 2006 and Prague in 2014 and has served in the Music Ministry of the EDSA Shrine every Sunday since 1992.

Her professional career as a cross-over artist which began in 1980 has been highlighted by: lead roles in operas, solos in large works, commercial jingle singing and backup vocals for local as well as visiting international pop artists. Her training in and experience with performing varied vocal genres has made her a sought - after vocal coach for reality television talent shows like Pinoy Dream Academy, Pilipinas Got Talent, X Factor Philippines, and for contestants in the Voice Kids Philippines and Tawag Ng Tanghalan. She has been tapped to train artists of GMA Artist Center and Camp Star Hunt Academy of ABS –CBN and is currently a sought after vocal coach of celebrities like Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo and Zsa Zsa Padilla.

Her career as a singing voice specialist and designated voice therapist of St. Luke’s Global City for 9 years has enabled her to provide the non-medical intervention badly needed by individuals who have injured their vocal folds due to the misuse and abuse of their vocal instrument in the course of their work or daily activities. To produce more CMVTs like herself that can provide this service to a larger Fiiipino community, she has recently convinced the McClosky Institute of Voice to conduct the two-part Certification Course for the first time outside the United States, here in the Philippines from January 6-12, 2020 which she negotiated for St Luke’s Medical Center Global City to host and co-sponsor. This fulfills her long time dream of making the training accessible to and more affordable for Filipinos.
