Nathan Neil Manimtim started teaching at the UP College of Music in 2003. Through the years, he was involved in numerous creative works, led research projects, and implemented public service projects.
Nathan’s peer-reviewed performances include his role as a principal guitarist and soloist in Dr. Ramon Santos’ "Daragang Magayon: Ang Istorya ni Mayon" held in CCP Main Theater in 2013; the "UPCMu Faculty Concert Series: Manimtim and Noble Guitar and Violin Duo" in 2015; his role as guitar soloist and arranger in Dr. Jonas Baes’ "Masdan, O Yahweh: Isang Pagpupugay sa Musika ng Patatag" performed in 2015 at the UP College of Music; the "UPCMu Faculty Concert Series: Manimtim and Demetillo Guitar Duo" in 2016; and his research project Gitara ni Juan’s prototype launching concert held in the UP College of Music in 2016.
From 2014 to 2016, Nathan Manimtim served as the Project Leader of "Gitara ni Juan: Development of Prototype Design and Standardization of the Guitar-making Process for Quality Classical Guitars Using Select Philippine Woods", a multidisciplinary research project funded by the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD), Department of Science and Technology (DOST). His article "Stringed Instrument Making and Repair" was published in the Cultural Center of the Philippines Encyclopedia of Philippine Art, 2nd edition, volume 7. Nathan was the Head Researcher of the "Manila Guitar Festival 2018 and 2019" held at the University of Santo Tomas and St. Scholastica’s College respectively. Presently, he is serving as the Project Leader of "G.T.A.R.A. (Grip/Grasp Training with Active Range of Motion Activities using Guitar): Guitar Lessons for Restoring Hand Function Among Patients with Unilateral Hand Impairment", a collaborative research project between the UP College of Music and UP PGH Department of Rehabilitation Medicine funded by the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), DOST. Nathan is a Ph.D. in Music candidate at the University of the Philippines Diliman and currently researching the guitar traditions of the Philippines.
Moreover, Nathan is the co-proponent of the ongoing extension work "Gitara at Awit: Panimulang Klase sa Paggigitara para sa mga Manggagawa ng UP Diliman", a health and wellness activity for UP Diliman administrative staff and REPS.
