Prior to UP, she, has taught Music in various pre-school, elementary, and high school levels in public, private, and international schools including Ateneo de Manila Grade School (has been Coordinator of the Music Department of the Ateneo de Manila Grade School), UP Integrated School, Deutsche Schule Manila, Lycee Francais de Manille, Brent International School, Chinese International School, Waldorf International School and Canadian American School.
Prof. Valenciano has designed Music Curricula/Programs for these and various other schools including that of Philippine Science High School System.
At present, she teaches the Music Education Foundations core course, Music Methods and Practicum courses for K-12 levels, Asian Music Methods course, the National Service Training (NSTP) and Community Music-based CWTS courses.
Performances:
Prof. Valenciano is not only a Music Educator but also a singer, soprano. She is an alumna (soprano) of the Philippine Madrigal Singers having performed and competed in international choral competitions with the said choir; has been featured in various events as a soloist and with other performing local and international artists, including “But I Like To Sing” at the PCI Bank Auditorium, Makati with baritone Elmo Makil and Pianist Mauricia Borromeo; “Paco Park Presents” with flautist Sonny Yangco, at Paco Park Manila; “A Tribute to Composer Angel Peña”’ at the Abelardo Auditorium UP COll of Music; “Suour Angelica” (opera) with Soprano Ena Aldecoa also at the Abelardo Auditorium UP COll of Music; Konzertabend with German cellist Thomas Wurth at the Deutsche Schule Compound in Paranaque Metro Manila; Klassieke Avond with Dutch Pianist Francesca Laursen in ALabang Hausmusik; UP Artists in Concert with Baritone Elmo Makil and Pianist Mauricia BOrromeo at the Pangasinan Hall; Book Launching projects with classical guitarists Lester Demetillo of UP and Ruben Reyes of UST for poet Maria Abulencia at the PETA Hall; and “A Celebration Series” by Meredith Monk for the Diliman Arts Month, with Tenor Ramon Acoymo and the Philippine Madrigal Singers.
As a Choral Director/Conductor of various church and school choirs, Daisy has performed in events locally and internationally, leading choirs such as the Ateneo de Manila Boys Choir at a TV Guesting "A Little Night of Music" with coloratura soprano, Fides Cuyugan, at the Malacanang Palace for Pres Cory Aquino, at the Opening of Congress in 1988 singing the National Anthem, at the EDSA Revolution Celebration singing with the international group Peter Paul and Mary; with the Ateneo de Manila HS Glee Club and the German School Choir in Madz Et Al CCP concerts; with the Waldorf International School Choir at the 6th International Kolisco Conference in St. Paul Manila; with the Chinese International School Chorale in school plays with noted stage director Michael Williams; with the Brent International School Chorale at the APAC International Choral Festival in Shanghai China where the choir was voted ‘Best Choir’.
Professional memberships:
She is currently serving as Treasurer of the Executive Board of the Philippine Society for Music Education (PSME), and Vice President of the UP College of Music Alumni Association (UPCMAA). Past appointments include Founding Member and First Treasurer of the Phil Federation for Choral Music (PFCM) with National Artist Andrea Veneracion as Adviser, Chair of the Music Division of the Catholic Education Association of the Philippines (CEAP), Coordinator of the College Preparatory Music Program CPMP of the UP College of Music Extension Program, member (became Warden) of the Mu Phi Epsilon International Music Sorority, Secretary of the UP Ibalon, a UP-based Bikol Cultural Organization. Prof. Valenciano is also an alumna (soprano) of the Philippines Madrigal Singers.
Research:
She is co-presentor of a paper entitled “Music Education for All: Open School of Music” at the 12th Asia-Pacific Symposium for Music Education Research (APSMER) 2019 on July 15-19, 2019 in Macau. Other Paper Presentations include “The State of Music Education in the Philippines”presented in several cities in the state of Pennsylvania USA as a Rotary Professional Exchange Grantee, “The Changing Voice In Your Boys Choir” at the Ateneo de Manila Education Department and Meriam School QC, and an Informance on “Ang Dagang Bikolnon” a bikol art song composed by Pilar Mella Ragragio (her mother) in Naga City.
